Firefly was Whedon's upcoming success and it's likely that she made an impact. In Summer Glau's role, River Tam was a complicated role that Glau managed with ease. In the role of Tam her character, she was required to participate in government research that required her to be trained to be the ultimate assassin. Tam's ability to control emotions is taken from her. The show Firefly Glau was able to show off not only her acting abilities but her ability to fight.
