April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. She is among a few female players of beach volleyball to have done so. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside April Ross in Tokyo for her third gold medal over the next few days. Ross hopes to win more than her initial Olympic medal. There is a chance that she has one chance at winning, as she's 39 old. Her optimism is that she can achieve top honors. Ross stated via NBC Boston: "If we do our best and even playing well, I think we could get the gold medal." "I'm planning to test to have a bit of luck." Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents and her sister. At Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many activities. In her time as a college athlete, she also played indoor track and volleyball. Though she excelled at indoor volleyball however, it was evident that her skills were above average. According to her bio, during high school she played volleyball as an outside hitter (middle blocker) as well as a the setter (outside blocker). Her efforts were recognized when she was named 1999 Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National players of the year. She also captured the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross is currently working with Klineman from 2017, but Ross's beach game had been established long before this. In fact, she's won numerous events, one of which was with an iconic volleyball player. The pair teamed with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman's personal trainer. Alongside Kessy Ross was a force on the international circuit winning an international title in 2009. The duo eventually captured an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were beaten out for the gold medal by the legendary duo of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. Together, they won beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross played for the Trojans of USC during her college days, years before becoming a professional. The time she spent at the school was one to remember. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year in the year 2000, a young freshman. The Trojans also reached the Final Four. She endured a great personal loss in her sophomore, however, she was successful in achieving the All-American award. In her last two years, she took the Trojans up to the summit and clinched consecutive national championships. Her individual achievements have cemented her status as a legend in volleyball. She was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross was an international relations major at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, did not have the chance to watch her daughter grow into the beach volleyball's biggest star. Ross's mom died from cancer of the breast in 2001. Ross had just become an undergraduate student in the second year at USC. She continues to cherish her mother who died. Margie has inspired her throughout her life, as well as on the beaches.
