Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19th of 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn into a low-income family that would ultimately comprise 12 kids Dolly Parton learned early to overcome the challenges of her life through her vivid and far-ranging imagination. Before she was able to write or read, she had already composed her own music. Her first guitar was given to her at the age of eight. She began singing in an Knoxville Tenn station by the age of 11. The same year, she released her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. Although she was studying, she already made a name of herself within the local arena. However, her goal was to to play on a bigger size. After she finished her high school, in 1964 she moved to Nashville. Her first charting records with Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host at the time was searching for a female singer on his show. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She accepted her job in 1967. The band split in 1974, when her solo hits like Joshua Coat of Many Colors & Jolene outsold the collaborations. Parton composed "I will Always Be Loving You" to Wagoner soon after their split. The song reached No. 1 for the first time in 1974.
