Taylor

Taylor Swift may be the most rare of all pop artists: one who could effectively bridge the gap between country and pop and conquer the world. Swift removed herself from the country genre like a second skin, and revealed that she was the most refined pop sensibility of the time. Swift was the only artist/singer who could take the popular zeitgeist when she went on tour. Swift's talents were apparent in some of the first songs she released, most notably the neodue Tim McGraw. But on the second album Fearless that came out in 2008, she was able to discover the person she was and reach a wide audience. Fearless became a worldwide hit but not only in the United States (where it received with six platinum awards for Top Ten Hits Love Story as well as "You Belong with Me") however, in Canada, Australia, the U.K. as well as other nations. Swift's new album Speak Now, released almost two years after the debut, further consolidated the success of this album. It propelled Swift to superstardom. Swift's popularity continued to grow through her subsequent three albums -- Red (2012) 1989 (2014), and Reputation (2017) and Reputation in 2017 and saw her move confidently into a pop realm that she had already been a part of. When she reduced her sound with the stripped-down releases of 2020, Folklore, and Evermore, she still remained in the top spot. This position was maintained through re-recordings of her previous catalog as along with Midnights, her synth-heavy chart-topping 2022 album.
